Hello there!
Wanted to give a quick update that this week has been quite hectic for me! Unfortunately, I was unable to get a new piece together this week that met the bar I try to set for our conversations.
I will resume our regular schedule starting next week, to keep finding, keep seeking the new path we’re trying to walk.
In lieu of one of my posts, I thought I would point you towards a writer and a digital space I deeply respect, one that has been a source of inspiration and learning for me over many years: Maria Popova's The Marginalian (formerly known as Brain Pickings).
If you haven't encountered her work, The Marginalian is a treasure trove. Maria describes it as "an inquiry into what it means to live a decent, substantive, rewarding life, and a record of my own becoming as a person." For over a decade and a half, she has been lovingly curating and connecting ideas from literature, philosophy, science, art, and history, weaving together insights from figures across centuries.
Why might you, as readers of this space, appreciate her work?
Depth over Distraction: In a world of fleeting content, Maria dives deep. Her essays are thoughtful, meticulously researched, and always aim to uncover timeless wisdom relevant to our modern lives.
Interconnectedness of Ideas: Much like we explore here how different philosophies or life experiences, Maria has an incredible gift for finding the threads that connect seemingly different thinkers and concepts – from ancient Stoics to modern poets, from quantum physics to the nature of love. It’s a beautiful demonstration of how everything is connected.
Celebration of Meaning & Beauty: If you appreciate our discussions on finding meaning, seeking beauty, and the value of philosophy and art, The Marginalian is a feast. It consistently unearths gems that nourish the mind and spirit.
A Labor of Love: It's an ad-free, reader-supported endeavor, born out of a genuine passion for learning and sharing – a testament to dedication and the pursuit of meaningful work.
If you're looking for something to read this week that will challenge, inspire, and uplift, I wholeheartedly recommend exploring themarginalian.org.
Looking forward to reconnecting with our regular post next week. Until then, keep seeking, keep searching, and we’ll find each other again soon!
